Little things are looking up.

Yesterday three good things happened. Which was great, we really needed the mood boost.

1. I found a stash of baby clothes in the 6-12 month range. This means that Charlotte DOES have some baby clothes, and she won't be naked all spring and summer.

2. One of Matt's work friends won some money on a scratch ticket, and gave it to us. We used it to round out Charlotte's wardrobe. She should now be set through the end of summer. We hope.

3. One of my friends threw a small proofreading job my way. It's something to do, will make me feel useful, and might yield a tiny profit.

We got Charlotte a bucket hat last night. It's very cute on her, and when she wears it, I can really see her resemblance to her daddy.

Here's daddy in a hat:

Not great.

I got some bad news today. I got laid off. I'm pretty upset about it - this was a decent job, with good benefits, that allowed me to work from home. Matt works at the same office, so we were always able to coordinate child care, and they were very understanding about always having one of us at home. Unfortunately, the economy being what it is, we just didn't have enough work to go around. 6 people got let go today, and in an office of less than 40, that's just really bad news.

I'm trying to look on the bright side - at least tomorrow I get to spend with Charlotte and I don't really have to divide my attention. I can start plotting my strategy while she naps.

Home Opener.

We are big Red Sox fans in these parts. Today Charlotte and I are wearing our official MLB wear, our official and non-official pink visors, and one of us is wearing red socks. We are good to go.

It's funny, we have a lot of Red Sox baby stuff, a good chunk of it pink. I think what happened was that I didn't have a "theme" for my nursery or baby shower, so a lot of people just figured, "Hey, Jenn loves the Red Sox," so we got a lot of baby Red Sox stuff. And I'm definitely okay with that, though it is rather branded and gender-specific. I guess even my hippieness has a limit. I was listing the stuff in my head, and it's quite a lot. One t-shirt, one outfit, one pair of shoes, 2 sets of pacifier and pacifier leash, one teddy bear, one set of sippy cups, one blankie (though we bought that ourselves) and one hand-made maternity t-shirt that said "Future Red Sox Fan" with an arrow pointing to my belly. Yup, I wore that to a game last year under my Papelbon jersey. No, I don't think there are any pictures, thank god.
